The Sinks is one of the pull-outs along Laurel Creek Road, and is a basically a large rapid/cascade of water. What makes the Sinks important is: (1) it’s the trailhead for Meigs Creek Trail (closed when I was there due to “agressive bear activity”) and (2) tragically, several people have died at this spot either trying to swim in the dangerous currents or climbing on the rocks around the water and falling in on accident.
