Hike #3 of 52 – Couchville Lake Loop – Long Hunter State Park

Balancing my love of hiking and the need to be outdoors for my own sanity has been a bit tricky the past couple of weeks with thunderstorms on my days off, family commitments, and the occasional need to socialize and have a real life.  Plus, I’m still training for my race (which I feel will be the death of me some days lol), so I decided to combine the training with the trails once again and tackled the 2 mile Couchville Lake Loop.

As a trail I’ve done before, you can see more pictures here and here.  The biggest difference this trip was not the trail itself, but the lake.  The water level was so low at some points that the lake seemed more like a small river than anything else.

Also, it’s been unseasonably warm for February, so while some trees may still be barren, flowers are already in bloom.  Despite what the groundhog saw this year, spring has apparently come early to the South.
