At the beginning of the summer, my friend B- and I took a trip to the new Atlanta Braves stadium, SunTrust Park. We’re both big Braves fans – I actually lived in Atlanta as a child and Chipper Jones was my favorite player for years – but we hadn’t been to a game together in a couple of years.
SunTrust Park was everything I wanted it to be and more. Outside there is a mini mall, known as The Battery, with shops and restaurants. We shared a plate of BBQ Brisket Nachos at Todd English’s restaurant Tavern, which were the most amazing nachos I think I’ve ever had in my life! Sadly no pictures because we scarfed them down too quickly, but they were piled high with tender brisket, Chimichuri black beans, charred onions, pico de gallo, avocado crema, and queso fresco. We were concerned that because it was such a fancy restaurant that the portions would be tiny, but it actually turned out to be tons of food.
Inside of the park there were even more food options **spoiler alert: we ate until we almost busted open**. Sadly it was Sunday, so no Chick-fil-A Ice Dream goodness, but we survived. Food aside, I’m convinced there are no bad seats in SunTrust park – we could see all of the action without any issue whatsoever. However we did not think about it being an afternoon game and both got so incredibly sunburned that we looked slightly ridiculous.
