In my search for doable (i.e. relatively nearby) hikes to close out this year’s challenge, I found a couple of websites mentioning the Old Hickory Lake Nature Trail, which I had never heard of before. The trail is near the Old Hickory Lake Dam and is an easy 1.1-mi – part paved, part natural surface, and part boardwalk. As a result, I think it would be a good intro trail for trail running if you live and/or work in the area.
The layout of the trail is similar to the letter “B”, except instead of one straight line to the left with two loops to the right, this trail has three loops on the right. As a result, I found it to be quite unique and an interesting change of pace – almost a ‘make your own hike’ type of thing.
