Historically, I’m not much of a college football fan, but in the past couple of years, my friends B- and W- have gotten me to watch some games, and I went to the Battle at Bristol with W-, which was an incredibly unique experience. In December 2017, W- offered to take me to a college bowl game, specifically the Music City Bowl – University of Kentucky versus Nothwestern. Neither of us had any stake in the game, but I’m a UK basketball fan and we thought it would be a fun New Year’s Eve weekend activity.
The game started in the afternoon, but the sun soon set and the temperatures dropped into the teens. We were wearing literally all the layers (i.e. long underwear under workout pants under jeans, leg warmers, layers of shirts/sweatshirts, coats, scarves, gloves, hats, and ear-warmers), but by the fourth quarter, we were losing feeling in our feet. You would think we would leave at that point since neither of us were fans of the teams playing, but it actually turned out to be a really good game! We were determined to see it through, which turned out to be a good idea since it came down to literally the last play of the game. As always, though, my favorite part was the halftime show 🙂
