Halfway through the Twin Lakes Loop, I started the third of the Lake Trails loops by jumping onto the 0.53-mi White Pine Trail on the shores of Lake Anna. The trail is much more narrow than the previous two and the trail head more narrow, but thankfully everything in Bowie Nature Park is incredibly well-marked, so I didn’t have any issues making all my connections.
After following the shores of Lake Anna for a bit, the trail veered further inland on a slow incline, eventually running above/alongside Lake White. Prior to Lake White, there are two connector options to cut the trail short and head over to Bluff Trail, but I opted to hike the full trail instead. They would be good options, however, if you’re limited on time or if a storm is blowing in quickly. If you continue along White Trail, though, you can actually see Bluff Trail winding along down below through the trees.
